The imposing Abbott Healthcare Products B.V. premises in Weesp contain three plants of which two for chemical APIs (Abbott Healthcare Products B.V.) and the other for influenza vaccine (Abbot Biologicals B.V.) in bulk. In Weesp the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) Product Centre is based, where established products are supported. The MS&T provides technical product support for Abbott's European Pharmaceutical Operations (EPO) pharmaceutical products. Staff in this centre provides technical expertise and support for commercial manufacture of branded generics in Europe.
Position
As Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist you support the Abbott Established Products Division within Europe. You provide scientific and technological leadership in Pharmaceutical Product Support Teams.
As a team player you identify and solve technical problems through application of current scientific technological know-how, practicality and utilizing appropriate internal and external resources for speedy remediation of the problem. Also you provide technical support and knowledge to cross-functional teams during development, commercial launch or problem solving for new and existing products. You implement selected initiatives by the Product Support Teams. Moreover, you conduct process scale-up studies and through process analysis you identify and recommend cost improvement opportunities. Furthermore you write technical reports and relevant CMC regulatory submissions. Also you plan and execute projects to meet the strategic need of the Division and Team Deliverables. You report directly to the Head of the Pharmaceutical Products Support Team.
Profile
- Masters/Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering or a comparable discipline is preferred;
- At least 5 years experience in a pharmaceutical industrial environment;
- Knowledge and experience working in a cGMP environment and knowledge of regulatory issues (CMC);
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work in a matrix organization;
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and scientific report writing skills;
- Eager to learn, accurate, team player.
