Ophthalmologists in training and with two years of ophthalmological studies completed at university level can continue their studies if the first two years are recognised in Germany. The final exam will in that case have to be taken in Germany.

Grafschafter Augenarztzentrum (Ophthalmology Nordhorn) is an independent practice with its own operation theatre. The practice does not rely on hospital staff and can be compared to an independent treatment centre. The practice is established in Nordhorn (Germany), just over the border near Denekamp. The practice specialises in general ophthalmology and polyclinic treatments. It has patients from Germany as well as from the Netherlands.
It’s facilities are efficiently organised and include all the latest equipment such as coherence tomography and selective laser trabeculolasty (for details please refer to: www.oogheelkundenordhorn.de). The partnership consists of three ophthalmologists who are supported by a an orthoptist and a team of 16 assistants. Due to the retirement of one of the ophthalmologists, the practice is currently looking for a successor.
Position
The position offered allows you to practise all disciplines of ophthalmology. This includes: general ophthalmology and polyclinic treatments, among which eyelid surgery, laser therapy, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, refractive surgery and squint surgery. As a partner you will also be responsible for running the practice in close cooperation with the other ophthalmologists. The opening hours of the practice are between 08:00 and 13:30 hours and between 14:00 and 19:00 hours. You will be on duty for approximately 6 visiting hours a day. In addition, you will be obliged to take part in the ophthalmological service schedule applicable to the region in question.
Profile

beginning or experienced ophthalmologist;

affinity for surgery; surgical skills are not a prerequisite.

reasonable written and spoken command of the Dutch and German languages (or full command of one of these languages and willing to learn the other);

well-developed leadership skills,

enthusiastic, good at communicating and a good team player;

keen eye for innovation.
