Research topics

  • Turnover of medical representatives: What causes the high turnover with medical representatives and what makes the successful rep successful?
Currently, Derks & Derks is repeating research concerned with medical representatives for the fourth time. About 25% of all medical representatives and about 1/3 of the Dutch Pharmaceutical Companies have participated in this research.
For candidates in the Netherlands and Belgium we have developed a free and anonymous questionnaire that tests the exactly how suitable each medical representative for their job.
  • Pharmacist role: Which role suits the graduate pharmacist best? Which one suits best?
In collaboration with the Utrecht University, we have completed research in 2005, and then to confirm findings in 2007,  focused on the characteristics of these pharmacy roles.
For pharmacists  in the Netherlands and Belgium we have developed a free and anonymous questionnaire that helps them choose the role that suits them best.
  • Qualified Person’s salary: A study on the salary of pharmacists that work in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • The culture and climate (working environment) in a pharmacy: In selection, the ‘person-organisation fit’ is consistently shown to be an important factor for a successful match. Does the applicant have the right skills, education and experience? This can be determined quite easily. But does the applicant ‘fit’ in your company’s culture?
Currently, Derks & Derks is doing research on this matter, in cooperation with pharmacist / psychologist Jen Feenstra (Viscum B.V.). Goal: a better match between applicant and company culture in community pharmacies.
